Giving Back {Art meets Activism}

Not just another Photographer, I truly believe in ART MEETS ACTIVISM:
Clients who invest in our Photography or Creative Coaching are simultaneously investing in the improved well being of Women and Children everywhere.

An excerpt about what we believe and do:
The studio annually donates Heirloom Portrait sessions to low income mothers-to-be, as well as Professional Head Shots to women re-joining the workforce after surviving domestic violence. Karen also helps Produce and Market women-centered documentary films, as well as, Speaks and Leads Workshops on Media Literacy, Self-Esteem, Self-Sustainability, Body Image, and How Women can become Socially-Driven Creative Entrepreneurs.

Karen is a proud mentor in the respected Big Sister program. She additionally partners with likeminded non-profit organizations like Kiva.org and local, women-run, small businesses. Having traveled throughout Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Thailand, Indonesia, Canada {to name a few}, her work promotes being a Citizen of the World.

Not just another photographer, Karen Christensen of The Legacy Boutique believes in Art meets Activism and donates a percentage of proceeds to women and children charities. Top maternity, newborn, baby, engagement, wedding, photography for bohemian, vintage, indie, rustic, hipster brides, moms, and brands.

WHY IS THE ADVOCACY FOCUS ON WOMEN AND CHILDREN?
Women and children are all too often the first to be devalued, displaced, and discarded. We must help to move them from ‘Victims to Survivors to Agents of Change,’ as Women for Women, Int founder Zainab Salbi states. By investing in women, their self-esteem and self-sustainability, we mobilize a groundbreaking end to the assaults of illiteracy, violence, poverty, chaos, disease, self-injury, and extremism. If my Art as Activism is even a small part of that movement, I can be proud of my life’s Legacy.

This is why I chose Karen. Yes she takes incredible photos but she also does great things in life. Very inspiring.

Karen Christensen is doing wonderful things with her intimate studio. Not only is she hugely friendly, warm, fun and funny to shoot with (she shot our unbelievable maternity and newborn portraits and I wished I had known about her when we shot our wedding because her recent wedding works are spectacular) but she’s really an activist at heart. We feel so great knowing that the money we spent on our family’s heirlooms will also be money spent toward improving the lives of other daughters and mothers. The Artwork she designed for me and my husband really reminds us every day of how important it is to truly love and appreciate each other and give thanks for all the blessings that we have. Check Karen out and get on her wait list today. Tell her Kathryn sent you and you’ll get a referral reward.

Love that your actions are aligned with your desires to make positive change and champion women & children, as well as highlight incredible causes and women. AND your images are so gorgeous! xo

I’m moved by charities aimed at helping children and girls especially. It’s sad but true that these demographics, all too often, go unnoticed. Visual art is such a powerful way to convey the truth of a singular person or of an idea – for the subject and the viewer. I love that you’re doing this. There is no better form of self expression than art…way to harness that and help everyone to be involved.

Hi Karen,

I just wanted to introduce myself, I’m a fashion stylist in Sydney Australia. I saw your post on Marie Forleo’s facebook page. The positive energy coming off you in that video was infectious and has put me in a great mood! :)
If you are ever shooting in Australia, I would love to work with you x
