Karen travels internationally for private commissions and has shot for celebrities, public figure experts, world-record athletes, and your everyday woman next door. A former model and actress, Karen understands the pressures and the wonders of being in front of the lens. She has earned critical praise for her soulful approach to Photography and her warm, transparent, no fluff Mentorship and Motivational Speaking.

 

Her Consumer and Commercial Photography has been published in the Sunday Edition for The LA Times, Success Magazine, seen in online Advertising for Secret Deodorant’s “Fearlessness” campaign, featured on KCRW.com and ESPN.com, ABC NEWS “Good Morning America,” and CNN’s hit show, “Sanjay Gupta MD,” along with countless blog publications including images on www.WeddingChicks.com, www.The Bump.com, www.BellyItchblog.com, and various top Women’s blogs. Continually working on personal passion projects, Karen’s photography has been exhibited throughout Los Angeles raising funds for issues faced by women and children of all ages, races, classes, sizes, abilities, and sexual orientations. In addition to local Art Exhibits, Karen has shot and directed mixed media essays and advocacy videos on The Katrina Disaster, Women Who Self-Harm, Media’s Relationship to Eating Disorders, Addiction, Children with Cancer, and Homelessness on Skid Row. Currently, Karen is the Associate Producer for the documentary feature film, “The Other Shore,” following famed marathon ocean swimmer Diana Nyad, 61, as she swims nonstop from Cuba to Florida, summer 2011.

Deeply committed to the belief in Art as Activism, Karen is a proud mentor in the respected Big Sister program. She additionally partners with likeminded non-profit organizations and local, women-run, small businesses. Having traveled throughout Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Thailand, Indonesia, Canada {to name only a few}, her work promotes being a Citizen of the World.
